Chirripo National Park
On of the wilders national parks in Costa Rica is Chirripo National Park, relatively accessible by foot. A large zone of the park has been protected from explotation and prevention buildings development. There are miles of trails who challenge many visitors to climb the highest peak in Costa Rica with more ecological protected zones that you can find in other countries.
The oprincipal attraction for tourists of Chirripo Hill is to clim the highest point of the park. The view is amazing, on a clear day you can see both Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean simultanely. With 12 miles of extreme climb tehre are two places when you can spend the night, that way you don't need to carry a tent. The first hut "Llano Bonito" is a half way while "The Refugios" is about a half mile from the highest peak.
Be prepare dif you want to make an attempt to clim the Chirripo highest peak, our recommendation is to a sleeping bag (lightly snow in new years eve), lots of water, a cook stove and food. Also carry a sunscreen since Chirripo Park is very close to the equator and you possibly may end up at the hospital. A reservation in the park system is a plus, communicate with the ranger station because there is a long waiting list to go to the park. If you stop by the ranger station with out a reservation possibly you won't find a place to entry the park.

About 35 miles passing Cartago you are over "The Cerro de la Muerte", which is called the dead mountain for a people who died walking on the road. It's not a good advice to drive at night in Costa Rica, especially in "The Cerro de la Muerte". After 90 miles, when you pass "The Cerro de la Muerte" you'll reach San Isidro del General, then look for the road to San Gerardo de Rivas, ionce you get there an sign will indicate you the direction to Chirripo National Park, go through that road about 70 minutes and you will reach one of the most amazing national parks in Costa Rica.
