Coco Beach, Guanacaste
About Coco Beach
One of the most accessible beaches in Costa Rica is Coco Beach. Within 35 km (22 miles) from Liberia, the road to Coco beach is pretty good with many connections, quite rare in Costa Rica's roads. By bus usually takes 5 hours to get Coco beach from San Jose, other option is to take a local flight to Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, usually this flight takes from 20 to 30 minutes from San Jose to Liberia, then take a private shuttle to Coco beach. This beach is full of beachfront hotels, condos, bars and restaurants, it's a great place to have some fun but not alone, so if you are looking for a quite place stay at home. Several options for fishing tours can be find in Coco Beach, since half and full days trips with captain, food and tackle to boats ducked in the beach. The beach it's great, not too big and not too small, white sand on one of beautiful beaches of south Guanacaste. Coco Beach was one of the first beaches in the Pacific where many costa ricans came from Central Valley to spend vacations or just a weekend.

Many activities can be developed on Coco Beach, of course, water sports are the most popular between tourists. Scuba-diving high season is from April to September, nearby islands like Bat and Catalina's are hot places to see sharks and turtles. Other popular water sport to develop in Coco beach is sailing since surfing is not quite popular in this place and many people rather to go to Jaco Beach to surfing. Several options to do and to see are in Coco Beach. Our recommendation is horseback ridding in Rincon De La Vieja Volcano in a day tour enjoying of the natural chimneys and a mineral mud bath in thermal pools near the volcano. Also many accommodation options in hotels, modern condo rentals and camping areas, besides good restaurants along the whole coastline.
