With the program "Route of the Heroes", the Juan Santamaria Museum contributes to the fortification and valuation of the historical identity of the communities by where the Costa Rican expeditionary army in 1856-1857 moved. At local level, the Juan Santamaria Museum takes care of the fortification of the alajuelense historical identity.
