Rincon de la Vieja National Park
The Rincon de La Vieja National Park is located in the provinces of Guanacaste and Alajuela the National Park Corner of the Old one, was created by law Not 5398 of the 23 of October of the 1973.
The Rincon de La Vieja comprising the massif that contains Rincon de la Vieja volcano, the Rincon de la Vieja National Park has an area of 14,083 hectares and
is divided into two sectors: Las Pailas and Santa Maria.
The Rincon de La Vieja Park contains nine volcanic cones and one lake, La Jilgueros.
Pailas Sector: Trail (7.5 km) to the Von Seebach (1,898 meters above sea level) and Rincon de la Vieja (1,806 meters
above sea level) craters; trail to las pailas (2.77 km); trail to La Cangreja (5.1 km) and Escondidas (4.3 km) waterfalls; trail
to the Rio Blanco pool (600 m); trail to fumaroles and mud volcanos.
As excellent aspects of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park must mention the thermal waters and the panoramic ones that the visitor finds in the National Park, who they are very different from those from the dry forest of the low zones. The type of landscapes we found: Laurel, guanacaste, bitter, Indian cedar naked and the copey, among others.
Also, the Mulberry Guaria is the refuge of a great population of our national flower (La Guaria Morada). And there they are possible to be appreciated also more than 300 species of birds, between which they stand out pavon, the stupid bird, the mountain finch and tucancillo.
The massive Corner of the Old form leaves from the watershed between the Caribbean and the Pacific, of the northeast zone of the country.
